Video shows a developing tornado swirling and gathering strength near the border between North and South Carolina before it appears to touch down. The powerful storm was filmed by Twitter user Cole Price at about 7:45 p.m. Monday, from a vantage point about seven miles west of Shelby, N.C., and about 13 miles northeast of Chesnee, S.C. As the video ends, it’s unclear whether the funnel cloud was in contact with the ground. The storm cell moved through several nearby counties Monday evening, causing severe damage including downed trees and power lines. The National Weather Service on Tuesday confirmed a tornado touched down in the area of Chesnee. According to Spartanburg County Emergency Management, no injuries or deaths were reported.
