A police dashboard camera captured the moment lightning hit a power line, disabling traffic lights at an intersection in Starkville, Mississippi, on Thursday.
Video shows the police vehicle stopped in the rain at the intersection of Lynn Lane and Louisville Street, when a bright flash and puff of smoke are seen just as the traffic lights flicker out.
The Starkville Police Department shared the video on social media to warn drivers in the area. Officers set up temporary stop signs at the intersection, and it was treated as a four-way stop until the lights were operational again a short time later.
